There's no better way to spend a New York summer afternoon. Ride the Cyclone and the Wonder Wheel, eat a delicious hot dog from Nathan's, play some arcade games, and take a dip in the ocean.
After living in New York for a full year, I decided to start working on a project that would celebrate the local small business owners that make the city such a lively and diverse place to live. Many of them are immigrants, many come from underprivileged backgrounds, and all work incredibly hard to make their businesses flourish. For the most part, theirs are stories of success, and they deserve to be celebrated.
Last weekend I had the joy of photographing Karneisha and Dan with their son Dan Jr. I loved doing little Dan's newborn photos in January, and it was wonderful to see how much he's grown since then. They were so much fun to photograph, and so loving with each other. I also owe a HUGE thank you to Karneisha's mom, who made little Dan laugh during the shoot and kept everyone happy.
